How to: Turn Overtype on or off in Word 7.0.
Solution:
Select 'Options...' from the 'Tools' menu, click the 'Edit' tab and select the 'Overtype Mode' check box.
NOTE: The 'Overtype' option allows existing characters to be replaced one by one while typing.
1) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The 'Options' dialog box appears.)
2) Click the 'Edit' tab.
3) Do one of the following from the 'Editing Options' group:
a) To activate Overtype, select the 'Overtype Mode' check box.
b) To deactivate Overtype, clear (uncheck) the 'Overtype Mode' check box.
4) Click 'OK'.
NOTE: When 'Overtype' is activated, the letters 'OVR' appear in the status bar at the bottom of the Word 7.0 window.
